Moruben Road, Mosman - Modern Hamptons Interior Design
Arthouse Interiors was engaged by apartment specialists Mr & Mrs Elias to design this stunning Mosman apartment on Sydney’s Lower North Shore. With breathtaking views across Balmoral and North Head, the project required an interior that reflected their client’s personality and appreciation of the local area, while embracing a Modern Hamptons style with timeless elegance.
Design Approach
Balancing style with functionality was key, as the client splits their time between Australia, Canada, and the USA. The open-plan living, dining, and kitchen areas were redesigned to maximise the spectacular views while maintaining a cohesive interior.
The kitchen became a standout feature, blending traditional Hamptons style with modern conveniences. Crisp joinery, a deep blue island, Miele appliances, and a concealed Sub-Zero fridge provide a luxurious yet practical space, complemented by a breakfast bar for everyday routines.
Maximising Space & Functionality
Originally a two-bedroom apartment, the layout was reimagined to enhance flow and versatility:
A study with a Murphy bed adds flexible guest accommodation without compromising living space.
The second bedroom was reconfigured to improve access and expand robe space.
Every detail was considered to create light-filled, functional interiors suitable for a modern lifestyle.
Challenges & Solutions
Compact footprint: Clever space planning and multifunctional furniture ensured maximum usability without feeling cramped.
Framing the views: Open-plan design and careful layout decisions allow uninterrupted sightlines to Balmoral and North Head.
Modern Hamptons balance: Traditional joinery and detailing were paired with contemporary elements like the deep blue island, integrated appliances, and hidden storage.
Multi-country lifestyle: Durable, high-quality finishes and practical layouts accommodate a client frequently travelling between countries.
The result is a sophisticated, light-filled apartment that combines elegance, functionality, and Modern Hamptons charm, perfectly suited to the Lower North Shore lifestyle.
